Dragon Academy : This academy’s about to go up in flames.
I’m Sorcha McMurphy. I thought magic didn’t exist– until I found a stolen dragon hatchling, and got a letter of acceptance to a supernatural school for dragon riders.
I’m literally flown away to a college that teaches sword fighting, magic casting, and general ass-kicking. Here, the dragon clans are at war and there’s an evil that threatens to destroy the riders forever.
They think I’m the chosen one destined to save the clans, but I’m no hero. If only I could stop myself from loving the cursed guy in my Dragon Keeping class long enough to save the world…
“Yeah, well, no one does,” she said. “By the way, I broke up with Bryan. You know his roommate, Tanner? I totally caught Bryan sleeping with him last night. I knew he swung both ways and didn’t tell me.”
“Thank God.” I hated Bryan. He was a douche. He was always trying to hook up with me behind Aisling’s back, and it was so gross. He was Captain of the community college football team, and he’d thought it entitled him to all the girls in town, even after he graduated. I guess you could add guys to that list, too.
“That D was legendary, though.” Aisling sighed dramatically. “I’ve never had anyone bigger.”
“I’m sure the rest of his football team can say the same,” I said.
Aisling cracked up. “Shit, Sorcha, what would I do without you?”
“Probably die.” We didn’t have much more time to talk before customers started swarming in. It was around eight a.m., and everyone from the local factory, as well as the community college, usually came to pick up an espresso before work or class began. Aisling and I had to crank out coffee after coffee as customers lined up outside the door. Hey, for as much as Mirefield hated books and paintings, they had an addiction to coffee, and Aisling made the best cup in town.”
