Peonies and Poison: Making cupcakes can be murder.
Especially when someone has poisoned them.
Diana knows she’s being framed for a crime she didn’t commit, but who is out to make her look guilty, and why?
Speaking of secret enemies… Fergus has done something terrible. Now part of a new crime-fighting duo, Diana finds herself immersed in a deep, dark conspiracy theory. At the heart of it is a mystery that has baffled investigators for decades. The whole thing is more ridiculous than anything Fergus has ever previously believed.
The worst part is… she’s starting to think it might all be true.
Now, more than ever, she needs to find a logical answer… or face accepting something that defies scientific explanation.
“The man in charge of the farmers’ market was not fond of confrontation. He’d been unhappy when I’d told him that Luana was selling flowers that came exclusively from other countries on her stall, and wasn’t the whole idea of the farmers’ market to support local producers? He’d been unhappier still when he’d realised I was right, and that he was expected to have a word with her. Once he’d plucked up the courage, I’d watched him go over to her and explain that, unless she was showing locally produced items, or, alternatively, something that she had personally crafted, she would not be able to have a stall at future events.
I’d watched Luana receive the pronouncement with the usual grace and decorum she showed anyone who wasn’t me. I hadn’t been able to keep from feeling a glow of satisfaction when I’d seen the florist finally get a taste of her own medicine. When she’d looked over at the end of the conversation, I’d smiled at her.
I had no idea how much I would come to regret my little show of defiance.”
